Roadphalt Anti-rutting Additive is composed of polymer composite. It is especially developed to resist the rutting of hot mix asphalt wearing course. It has the advantages of high temperature stability, fatigue resistance performance, water stability and the low temperature crack resistance. It can be applied to various of asphalt mixture and greatly improve the performance of asphalt mixture.

IV. The Basic Principle of Product

 

1. Thickening effect:

 

When the asphalt mixture is mixing, adding the RPT Anti-rutting additive to make it full melting; The RPT combined with asphalt sufficiently to form the high strength and stability of solidified structure. This improves the softening point of asphalt, strengthens asphalt consistence, lowers susceptibility to temperature variation.

 

2. Binder effect:

 

RPT anti-rutting additive is coated on the aggregate surface after melting, it will create bonding inside the granulometric skeleton. That makes the structure of asphalt mixture stable.

 

3. Toughening effect:

RPT Anti-rutting additive reacts with asphalt after melting, thus elastic recovery properties of asphalt were improved, consequently it allows a significant enhancement of toughness of asphalt mixture. At high temperature, RPT anti-rutting additive can make the road to restore elasticity, improve the asphalt pavement deformation.

 

4. Blocking effect:

 

After melting, part of RPT anti-rutting additive draws into plastic fiber on the process of mixing, the asphalt mixture has good adhesion between aggregates and the binder. Polymer fibers form the mesh structure in binder, enhancing the flexibility of asphalt mixture.

V. Features:

 

1. Higher resistance to deformation at high pavement temperature.

 

By the following table shows, after adding RPT anti-rutting additive, the anti-rutting performance of asphalt mixture has been strengthened greatly, its dynamic stability is over SBS modified asphalt mixture.

2 . Improve the anti-fatigue performance

With reference to the AASHTO TP8 standard trabecular experiments, the result is shown in the following figure:

By data shows, after adding RPT Anti Rutting Additive, anti-fatigue performance of asphalt pavement has been enhanced, thus prolong the service life of road.

 

3. Improve the water stability performance.

Intensity ratio of frozen and melted 

After adding RPT anti-rutting agent, intensity ratio of frozen and melted of asphalt mixture has improved significantly. It can improve the water stability of asphalt mixture,  enhance the ability of resistance to water damage of asphalt pavement.

 

 

 

VI. Installation Guide

 

1. The use of additive:

Pour the additive that is measured into the agitator kettle from viewport.

2. Dosage:

3. Application of process 

1. Aggregate

Heating temperature is higher than the same type aggregate mixture (about 20 ℃), and mixing time is over 15 seconds.

2. RPT Anti-rutting Additive

Mixing time is 4 to 7 seconds.

3. Feeding

Mixing time is 5 seconds.

4. Asphalt

Heating time is over 160 ℃, mixing time is over 30 seconds.

5. Asphalt mixture

Discharging temperature is over 160 ℃.

6. Construction

Paving temperature is over 155 ℃, compacting temperature is over 150 ℃. The roller should be followed with the paver.

 

VII. Storage and transportation

 

Storage: RPT Anti-rutting additive can be stored at room temperature.

Transportation: Convenient to transport, no need special vehicle.
