Borax had been used as antiseptic and swelling agent in food. But it is prohibited to be used since the strong toxicity. Yet, driven by interest, some merchants add borax or boric acid in food which is severely harmful for the health of human beings. Therefore, strengthen the supervision of the borax content in food is imperative. Borax rapid test paper developed by our company can rapidly detect the borax content in the sample without using other reagent . Borax rapid test paper is easy to use and the result is accurate.  

The detecting range is 0 - 1000mg/kg.

 

1. Using method and results

1.1  Liquid sample:

Take the supernatant directly as detected sample .

 

1.2  Solid sample:

1.2.1Take 10g sample, and cut them into pieces. Place them into a colorimetric tube or a beaker, and then add pure water or distilled water to 50ml. Shake them evenly, and let them soak for 5 to 10minutes.

1.2.2 Take out a test paper and uncover the film on the surface, insert the yellow pill into the soaked solution. Then take it out and dry the moist part of the test paper with electric hair dryer.

1.2.3 Use pure water or distilled water to do a blank control at the same time for each batch detected sample.

1.2.4 Negative results would be shown with no color change (namely showing yellow or yellow mixed with gray )，positive results would be shown with orange red or red brown. Semi quantitative result will be gained compared with standard colorimetric plate.

1.2.5 Moist the white pill of the test paper with pure water or distilled water, then fold the plate into halves to let these two pars overlap. Then unfold the plate and observe the color to judge the result again. The result is same to that judged in the step 1.2.4 but with obvious coloration. The result will be more reliable through twice judgement.

 

2.  Application scope

Suitable for rapid detection of the borax in meat like pork, beef, fish, shrimp and rice food.

 

3. The lower limit of detection:

50mg/kg

 

4. Attention :

4.1 If the first result have inconsistency with the second one, take the second result as final.

4.2 If the soak solution contains much axunge.Filter it and take the filtrate as detected sample in case the axunge influences the detection.

4.3 It is necessary to use hot wind to dry the test paper by electric hair dryer. And make sure it is dried fully.

4.4 Positive results should be detected again by standard method.

 

5.  Preservation condition

Keep them at room temperature in sealed, dark ,dried ,and ventilated condition. The expiration time is one year.
