Ansen Splint is made of several layers fiberglass fabric or polyester fabric impregnated with water-activated polyurethane resin and upper and lower hydrophobic non-woven fabric.

 

Ansen Splint has many advantages comparing with traditional plaster splint: lightweight, high strength, X-ray radiolucent and air-permeability.

 

Ansen Splint is intended for use in the construction of most common orthopedic splints.

It is normally used in the early days of the fracture, when the fixed part has trauma or swelling.

 

Application Instructions

1. Select proper size of splint according to different parts of body, no need to wear gloves for doctors. 

2. Open the package, immerse the splint in room temperature water (21-24'C) for 4-6 seconds and squeeze it 2-3 times to complete penetration of water into the body of the splint. The higher the water temperature is the faster splint hardens.

3. Take it out and squeeze or wipe out excess water by using dry towel.

4. Use the splint to cover the fixed part and wrap it by gauze bandage or elastic bandage to secure and mold it freely.

5. After water soak the splint begins to solidify in 3-5 minutes and can bear weight enough in 20 minutes. Generally the operation will be finished in 3 minutes. It needs to be avoided excessive action within 10 minutes to be made the best stiffness before fully hardened.

6. Splint can be removed with common scissors.

Precautions

  1. Check bag without any breakage. Exposure to moisture or water initiates a chemical reaction that causes the splint to harden. Do not use the splint that feels hard.
  2. Open one bag at one time and use the splint immediately. Don't open multi-bags at the same time, so that to avoid weakening the strength.
  3. Ansen Splint should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated atmosphere. The proper temperature is 15-30℃ and the humidity should be less than RH60%.
  4. All applications of these splints should be followed according to instructions of doctors or qualified medical professionals.
  5. Production date is marked on bag. The shelf life is 3 years from the date of production.
