Overview:

Youbio black rice pigment, also known as black rice pigment and red rice haematochrome, is a kind of natural pigment extracted from the husks of red and black rice using modern biotechnology. The main component is cyanidin-3-glucoside. It is classified as flavonoid anthocyanin compounds.

Red rice haematochrome appears fuchsia liquid or powder soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in acetone and petroleum ether. It has good stability, heat and light resistance, but it is sensitive to oxidants. Sodium, potassium, calcium, barium, zinc, copper and trace iron ions have no effect on it. However, it will turn rosy if it is exposed to tin; and it will fade and precipitation if it is exposed to lead and a large amount of Fe2 +. Its aqueous solution is red at pH 1-6 and turns light brown to yellow at pH 7-12.
