The forced air cooled 3CX1500A7 electronic tube works at a frequency of 250MHz and the anode dissipates 1500W. In audio or radio frequency applications including VHF, the tube can be used as a cathode driven Class AB2 or B amplifier or a cathode driven plate modulated Class C amplifier. When used as a linear amplifier, high power gain and low intermodulation distortion can be obtained. Tubes of this power capacity have low grid capture and high amplification factors, so that the drive required is extremely small.
