Description of BS-K Flotation Cell
Before flotation the mined ore rocks are mechanically ground to powder of desired grain size. The powder is mixed with water and chemicals and the resulting slurry is fed to a series of flotation cells. In the BS-K flotation cell, low pressure air is fed into the slurry by a blower to produce air bubbles that naturally upwards and to produce froth on top of the slurry. Separation of the particles of valuable minerals from the ore is achieved when particles of the valuable minerals preferentially attached to air bubbles and are floated to the surface of the slurry. From the froth layer, the particles are removed by means of an overflow launder. The remainder of the slurry exits the cell through an outlet in the lower part of the cell.
