There are two basic types of retaining electromagnets, one-way retaining and two-way retaining, for different purposes.
One-way holding: After power-on, push the object to move in one direction. After power-off, keep the travel and strength as push-out state. After reverse power-on, return to position (pull-back strength of push-back strength of one-way holding is not strong)
Two-way holding: Push the object to move in one direction after electrification, keep the travel and strength as push-out state after power failure, and return to (push-back force of two-way holding is the same as pull-back force) after reverse electrification.
Keep solenoid uses permanent magnets. Its working principle is similar to that of all linear electromagnets. When the coil is excited, the slider moves towards the core and finally stops at the end point. When the power supply is cut off, the slider is still in its original position. If the slider is to be returned, the reverse voltage (or current) must be applied. These electromagnets can be pulled in and pushed out.
There are two kinds of self-preservation: one-way self-preservation and two-way self-preservation. One-way self-retaining only keeps the core (self-locking) in one position at the end of the journey. The two-way self-retaining electromagnet adopts double coil structure, which can keep the core (self-locking) in two different positions at the beginning and the end of the formation, and the two positions have the same output torque (bistable characteristics).
