Description of Molybdenum Rods
Sintered Molybdenum Rods: The rods are produced through powder metallurgy, which presses them into shape and then sinters them. Sintering is suitable for large-diameter or heavy single-weight molybdenum rods, and it is also used for less demanding products.
– Forged Molybdenum Rods: Forging sintered molybdenum rods results in a denser internal structure, enhancing product performance at a higher cost. The surface of forged molybdenum rods may have slight oxidation and hammer marks. The density and structure depend on the deformation during the forging process.
– Black Surface Molybdenum Rods: The black surface is achieved through extrusion or drawing, retaining processing lubricants and oxide layers.
– Alkali-Washed Molybdenum Rods: Alkali-washed rods are chemically cleaned, removing all lubricants and oxides.
– Turned or Polished Molybdenum Rods: The rods are processed using lathes, external cylindrical grinders, or centerless grinders to improve surface quality by removing oxide layers and hammer marks. This ensures precise dimensions, straightness, and roundness, facilitating subsequent processing or direct use.
We offer sintered and forged molybdenum rods, and surface treatments can be customized based on customer requirements. Rod diameter and length can also be customized.
Additionally, we produce high-temperature molybdenum rods (MoLa Rods) and TZM molybdenum alloy rods:
– High-Temperature Molybdenum Rods (Molybdenum-Lanthanum Alloy Rods): Lanthanum content: 0.4-1.2%. Adding lanthanum enhances creep resistance and increases the recrystallization temperature. Molybdenum-lanthanum rods are a low-stress version of molybdenum, making them easy to process further.
– TZM Molybdenum Alloy Rods (Titanium-Zirconium-Molybdenum Alloy): Adding 0.4-0.6% Ti, 0.07-0.12% Zr, and 0.01-0.05% C improves performance, providing higher strength even at high temperatures. It has a higher recrystallization temperature and creep resistance compared to pure molybdenum.

2. Low Thermal Expansion Coefficient: Molybdenum rods’ low thermal expansion coefficient means they are less prone to thermal expansion at high temperatures, contributing to dimensional stability.
3. Good Thermal Conductivity: Molybdenum is an excellent thermal conductor, making molybdenum rods perform well in high-temperature applications by efficiently conducting heat.
4. Corrosion Resistance: Molybdenum rods exhibit high corrosion resistance to various chemicals and corrosive environments, including molten glass, molten salts, and acidic or alkaline solutions.
5. High Strength: Molybdenum rods have good mechanical strength, suitable for various high-temperature and high-pressure environments.
