Brazing Characteristics
Sanhuan Phos-Copper brazing alloy SCuP-3 is a copper rich, intermediate temperature, brazing filler metal which has good mobility and processing property. The phosphorous content form its "self-fluxing" properties when used on copper. However, when joint copper base alloys, such as brass or bronze, braze with flux SFB-102 is recommended. The level of phosphorous also changes the fluidity and ductility of the material. The greater the percentage of phosphorous in the filler metal the more fluid the material will be. Phos-Copper filler metal should not be used on ferrous or nickel-based alloys or on copper-nickel alloys containing a nickel content in excess of 10%, as brittle intermetallic compounds are formed at the filler metal-base metal interface. Corrosion resistance is satisfactory except when the joint is in contact with sulfurous atmospheres, especially at elevated temperatures.
Application
Sanhuan Phos-Copper brazing alloy SCuP-3 is suitable for joining copper to copper and copper to copper alloys where impact or vibration stresses are not encountered in service. It lower phosphorus makes its better plastic nature, has a little higher melting point. It is more suitable for brazing ample clearance tie-in.
